U.S. Navy Tall Ships To Dock In Nassau Thursday

You can watch the ships come in Thursday and then tour them Friday or Saturday. It's a summer tradition going back nearly two decades.

United States Navy Tall Ships, in an annual tradition, will arrive at the Village of Freeport's Nautical Mile on Thursday morning.

Mayor Robert Kennedy and the village board will join local veterans and civic leaders to welcome the U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen into the port at 11:30 a.m.

The arrival of the tall sailing ships at the Nautical Mile is a summer tradition going back nearly two decades. The Freeport Nautical Esplanade is a popular port-of-call that the young midshipmen visit along the East Coast each year before returning to Annapolis. The midshipmen are in training for service as commissioned officers in the Navy.
