Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Freeport Car Crash: PD

A man is in critical condition after he was struck by a Buick while crossing the street, police say.

FREEPORT, NY — A 44-year-old man is in critical condition Monday after he was struck by a Buick while crossing Main Street in Freeport, police said.

Nassau County police did not identify the pedestrian or the driver whose car struck him Monday, but said that the crash had taken place at 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of N. Main Street and Prince Avenue.

According to police, the car that struck the man was a 2018 Buick Encore, with a 30-year-old man behind the wheel. The driver, police said, remained at the scene of the crash.

Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing. No arrests or charges have been reported as of Monday morning.
