At a news conference on Wednesday, Nassau SPCA Board President Gary Rogers said, "Whoever did this has been doing this a long time and the only reason this dog is alive is because it had will."
He said the dog, believed to be approximately five years old, was dropped off at the Freeport rescue overnight on Thursday. He said the dog appeared to have suffered from being in a tight cage for months, Newsday reported.
