Nassau Man Fires Rifle Round Into Air On Sunrise Highway: Police

FREEPORT, NY — A Freeport man was arrested early Wednesday after police said he fired a gunshot into the air on Sunrise Highway.

Reynaldo Torres, 41, was seated in a parked 2019 Volkswagen fired a rifle round, detectives said.

It happened around 3 a.m. as officers were on routine patrol. Torres was placed into custody without incident, detectives said.

Torres faces a count of second-degree reckless endangerment. He was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
