Roosevelt Joins the Million Fathers March

Fathers show support for their children's education during international event

ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (SEPTEMBER 2023) — Centennial Avenue Elementary School in the Roosevelt School District recently joined 198 schools and organizations across the globe in celebrating the Million Fathers March.

Over 100 fathers and guardians walked their children to school and registered to join the District’s partnership with the Furthering Fathering Corporation, a fatherhood nonprofit dedicated to helping fathers engage in and support their children’s education and give back to their community.

“Our Million Fathers March was a huge success and we thank everyone who participated and helped us convey the significance of fathers in their children’s education,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Deborah Wortham. “We had an amazing showing, as seen in our registration numbers, and we are excited for what’s to come of our partnership with Furthering Fathering. A father’s presence in their child's educational life speaks louder than words—it has a long-lasting impact, instilling confidence, love, and a strong foundation for future success.”
