The Roosevelt School District recently hosted JROTC students from 15 other high school across the Northeast to compete in the district’s second annual JROTC High Stakes Competition. Teams competed in Vex Robotics for a chance to advance to the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas this May. Roosevelt was victorious and will be sending its team to the international event, which is the world’s largest robotics competition.
“The energy in the room was palpable, as students showed off their engineering skills and tested their designs and creations,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “We are so proud of our JROTC Robotics team for putting together such an incredible event and wish them the best of luck in the world championship.”
Prior to the competition, teams had designed and constructed their own remote-controlled robots. The event included several challenges and activities for students to test the strength, durability and agility of their creations.
