Roosevelt Middle School Celebrates Hispanic Heritage
Roosevelt students encourage diversity during the school's "Cultural Hispanic Night."
Roosevelt School District’s Roosevelt Middle School students perform a Hispanic dance during the school’s “Cultural Hispanic Night.” Students were participating in the evening as part of a district initiative to raise awareness of great Hispanic thinkers and help students share their diverse backgrounds in an enriching way.
The Roosevelt School District’s Roosevelt Middle School recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting a school-wide celebration, “Cultural Hispanic Night.” The evening enabled all students to come together in solidarity and celebrate their unique heritages. Hundreds of students came together to see their peers perform and taste traditional Hispanic food prepared my Roosevelt Middle School teachers. Performances included a dance showcase of “Stand by Me,” directed by Ms. Portillo; student-speakers presenting on why we celebrate Hispanic heritage; a video entitled “What do Latinos Look Like?” poetry readings of poetry from great Hispanic thinkers and band and guitar performances by students.
This event is part of the Roosevelt School District’s commitment to helping students share their diverse backgrounds and cultures in an enriching way.
