Taxi Driver Robbed by Duo at Gunpoint: Police

The robbery occurred on Monday morning in Roosevelt.

ROOSEVELT, NY - A 28-year-old taxi driver was robbed by two men at gunpoint in Roosevelt early Monday morning, according to Nassau Police.

The driver was sitting inside his NY Taxi Cab when he was dispatched to pick up a fair on Elmwood Avenue at about 1:50 a.m.

While parked on the corner of Oakwood Avenue and Elmwood Avenue, the two men approached the driver.

The first man opened the driver’s side door, displayed a black handgun and demanded money.

The second man entered the rear passenger side door and placed a hard object believed to be a handgun against the driver’s head.

The driver gave them cash and the duo fled the scene eastbound on Elmwood Avenue. There were no reported injuries.

The first man is described as a having a thin build and 5-foot-5, police say.
