Uniondale Scholars’ Artwork Featured in Cornell University Calendar
Seven Uniondale Scholars Selected to be Featured

Seven Uniondale Union Free School District scholars have been selected to have their artwork featured in Cornell University’s 2023 Long Island Gardening and Calendar and Guide. The calendar features a daily guide on “best practices,” such as seasonal guidelines to be aware of for gardening on Long Island, along with QR codes with further information. Coinciding with the factual information are beautiful pieces of artwork of nature produced by scholars across Long Island.
“We are incredibly proud to see Uniondale scholars’ artwork picked to be displayed in Cornell University’s calendar,” said Kelvin Jenkins, Director of Fine and Performing Arts. “Cornell received plenty of submissions, and we are honored to know that our scholars’ stunning artwork will be seen by people across the country who purchase this calendar.”
Six of the seven scholars are in Mrs. Akiko Hanratty’s art class at California Avenue Elementary School. Congratulations to London Hernandez, Anthony Melgar Alvarado, Rihanna Pogyo, Jordan Raheim, and Emma Kirlew. In addition, Andrea Rivera Ramos, a junior at Uniondale High School, was also chosen to have her artwork published in the calendar.
