The mayor announced that all flags within the village will be flown at half-staff as a sign of respect for the victims of the shooting.

FREEPORT, NY - The Village of Freeport Mayor Robert T. Kennedy announced on Monday that all flags within the village will be flown at half-staff as a sign of respect for the victims of the mass shooting attack in Orlando, Florida.
Following the news of the tragedy, Mayor Kennedy released the following statement:
“This is a sad day for millions of Americans as we continue to mourn the deadliest mass shooting in the United States, and the nation's worst terror attack since 9/11. The Village of Freeport strongly denounces this unspeakable and cowardly act and joins thousands of other towns, villages and cities across our great land that are standing up against hate and unified against senseless acts of gun violence. Hatred and violence, especially when directed against any specific group of people, will not be tolerated in Freeport. Our hearts go out to the victims, their loved ones, and the people of Orlando, and I pray that all those wounded have a speedy and full recovery."
