Woman Killed While Crossing Road In Nassau

BREAKING: Police are still investigating, but have said it was an accident.

A woman was killed while trying to cross Sunrise Highway in Freeport Wednesday night, police say.

According to detectives, the 53-year-old woman was trying to cross Sunrise Highway from north to south at the intersection of South Main Street when she was struck by a 1990 Ford Mustang being driven by a 69-year-old man.

The woman suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there is no criminality in the accident and are continuing to investigate. The identity of the victim is being withheld for now.
