FREEPORT, NY — Police are seeking the public's help finding the two women who they say robbed a store in Freeport and attacked an employee who tried to stop them. According to police, the two women entered Ebony Beauty Supply on West Merrick Road at 3:15 p.m. Sunday. The owner recognized one of the women, who police say had previously shoplifted from the store.

Police say the owner saw the woman shoplifting again, confronted her as she was leaving, and asked to see her bag. The woman became enraged, punched the owner in the face, then fled the store with the other woman, police said. As the two women were fleeing, one reached into the other's bag and threw stolen merchandise on the store's floor.

Both women got into a silver or gray car parked in front of the store and drove off.
