With locations in Garden City and Syosset we train over 2,000 children each week at every swim level from Beginner to Olympian. Long Island Swim School offers swim lessons for children ages 2 - 14years old. The main emphasis of our programs is to teach children to swim correctly and develop essential water skills in a relaxed environment. HEMPSTEAD, NY — One person was killed in a fire Monday morning in Hempstead. Flames spread across a home on Devon Road just after 5:30 a.m. The victim is an 81-year-old man, authorities said. Nine residents were in the home during the blaze, with eight people getting out safely, police said. The Red Cross is assisting those displaced with temporary housing. The Nassau County Fire Marshal is investigating.
