UPDATE: 12-Year-Old Hempstead Girl Dies After Being Shot in Head
Dejah Joyner was hit by a stray bullet Friday afternoon while she was in the living room of her home.

UPDATE Sunday 10:30 a.m.: Joyner was pronounced dead at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola at 7 p.m. Saturday, police said.

A $75,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person who fired a gunshot from a Hempstead street Friday afternoon that struck 12-year-old Dejah Joyner in the head, Nassau Police announced Saturday.

Joyner, who was in the living room of her home at 204 Dartmouth Street when she was struck by the stray bullet at 4:50 p.m. Friday, remains in critical condition in the hospital.
Neighbors told PIX 11 that a group of young men were shooting at one another in the street before Joyner was hit.

No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
