2 Charged In Connection To Killing Woman In Hempstead: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Police have made a pair of arrests in connection to the April death of a woman in Hempstead, police announced.

Oumar Barry, 27, of Hempstead and a 16-year-old boy were each charged with second-degree murder. They were expected to be arraigned on Friday.

On April 1, Hempstead police, responding to a ShotSpotter activation on Polk Avenue, found two women with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim, who was critically injured, died days later. Kimberly Midgette was 44 years old.
