2 Dead, 4 Injured After In Fiery Crash In Hempstead: Police

Police said a driver hit four cars near Fulton and Hilton avenues before their car burst into flames, trapping two people inside.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Two people died and four others were hospitalized Friday night when a series of crashes in Hempstead ended with one car engulfed in flames, according to authorities.

Nassau County police said the driver of a 2005 Chrysler was going east on Fulton Avenue around 11 p.m. when it collided with a 2021 Genesis occupied by four people.

According to police, the driver took off and hit three additional cars on Fulton Avenue before running a red light at the intersection of Fulton and Hilton avenues.

As a result of the collisions, police said the Chrysler caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames. The two people inside the Chrysler became trapped and died at the scene, police said.

Four others —including two children, ages 6 and 8 — were hospitalized, police said.
