2 Garden City Officers Honored With Promotions After Years of Service
The officers have a combined 30 years in the GCPD.

VILLAGE OF GARDEN CITY, NY — Two Garden City Police Department officers received a promotion ceremony at Village Hall for their years of dedicated service.
"We are honored to be here tonight to bring two of our officers forward into the next step in their careers," Acting Police Commissioner Gerard Kneisel said.
Trustee Bruce Torino administered the oaths of office to Police Lieutenant Stephen Touhy and Sergeant Thomas Carroll during the promotion ceremony earlier this month.

Lt. Touhy is a 26-year veteran of the GCPD and a three-year veteran of the New York City Police Department – he has served in the Patrol Division and as a Post Sergeant for the GCPD. He has earned many awards, including the American Legion Award and the Police Officer of the Year Award.
Sgt. Carroll began his service with the NYCPD in 2013, and his first assignment was with the Brooklyn South Impact Response Team.

He worked in high-crime areas and later served as a Patrol Officer in the 67th and 102nd Precincts. He joined the GCPD in January 2017 and has been awarded over the years, as well.
For his actions at a residential structure fire, he was awarded the Town of Hempstead Police Service Award. He is also the treasurer of the GCP Benevolent Association.
