2 NJ Women In ICE Custody After Prostitution Charge In East Garden City: Police

NCPD say the women were subject to removal proceedings.

EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — Two women were arrested on Monday afternoon after an undercover investigation determined prostitution was being conducted in East Garden City, police said.

Nassau County police said an undercover investigation was conducted at the Red Roof Inn on Dibblee Drive.

Elizabete Aguiar Pereira, 42, and Girlene Da Silva Dos Santos, 31, both of New Jersey, were placed under arrest by Narcotics Vice Squad Detectives at 3:50 p.m. on March 23, NCPD said.

Police said Elizabete Aguiar Pereira was charged with fourth-degree promoting prostitution, and Girlene Da Silva Dos Santos was charged with prostitution.

They were released on appearance tickets, but further investigation revealed they were illegally in the U.S. and were subject to removal proceedings, police said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents (ICE)
took custody of the two women, police said.
