2016 Election Preview: 19th Assembly District

Incumbent Ed Ra is once again being challenged by Gary Port

In the race for the 19th Assembly District, incumbent Republican Ed Ra is once again being challenged by Democrat Gary Port.

Ra and Port have faced off in 201 and 2014, where Ra handily won both times.

Ra has represented the district since 2011. He was originally elected to represent the 21st Assembly District, but then redistricting changed it to the 19th. He is a member of the Health, Labor, Codes and Higher Education committees and the Ranking Minority Member of the Education Committee. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the Minority Steering Committee and Vice-Chair of the Minority Task Force on School Safety.
