3 Arrested After Drugs, Gun Found During Traffic Stop: Nassau PD

Police say they found drugs in the center console, and one passenger had a handgun in his pocket.

EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — Three men were arrested Thursday night after a traffic stop in which police say they found marijuana and a gun in the car.

According to police, officers on patrol in East Garden City at 6:30 p.m. saw a red 2015 Nissan Altima heading west on Ring Road and committing multiple traffic violations. The police pulled the car over in front of 666 Old Country Road.

During the investigation, police say they found a bag containing a substance believed to be marijuana in the center console. While talking to the driver and passenger, police say the officers saw the passenger in the back seat making suspicious movements. The officers asked the rear passenger to get out of the car, and police say they found a handgun in his jacket pocket. All three were arrested.

The driver — Tyrese Bouey, 21, of Shore Front, Rockaway Beach — was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. The front passenger — a 19-year-old man from Rockaway Beach — was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana. The rear passenger — Richard Williams, 20, of Beach Channel, Far Rockaway — was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Bouey and Williams are scheduled to be arraigned later today. The front passenger was issued an appearance ticket and released.
