3 Loaded Guns Found In Vehicle; 3 Charged: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Three people were arrested in Hempstead after three loaded handguns were found after a traffic stop, police said.

A black Nissan Altima was observed on Terrace Avenue on Friday afternoon with illegally tinted windows and an expired registration.

As officers approached the vehicle, the four men fled on foot. A short time later, three of the occupants were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Tyshawn Parsons, 19, and Shamar Jackson, 18, both of Hempstead, and a 17-year-old, were arrested.

Along with the three weapons, officers also recovered a white substance believed to be crack cocaine, authorities said.

Parsons is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He was previously arrested on July 14 in Nassau County and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Jackson is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The 17-year-old is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.
