Pedestrian Dies After Jericho Turnpike Crash: Police

GARDEN CITY PARK, NY. — A 56-year-old man died Monday after being struck by an SUV on Jericho Turnpike, police said.

Nassau County police said the man was crossing the turnpike when the westbound SUV struck him. The 59-year-old driver remained at the scene while the 56-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized after suffering severe trauma in the crash, police said. The pedestrain was pronounced dead by a physician upon arrival at the hospital, police said.

Police said investigation into the crash is ongoing and did not publicly identify the 56-year-old man Tuesday morning. Police said no injuries were reported beyond those suffered by the 56-year-old man.
