Fairfax, VA - On Sunday, February 24, a contingent of nine runners from the track and field teams head down to George Mason University to chase NCAA at the George Mason Last Chance meet. The women sent one sprinter and a distance medley relay while the men had just the DMR compete.
Cassandra Jean competed in the 60m and 200m dashes and turned in times of 7.99 and 25.94. The junior placed 11th and ninth respectively. The women's distance medley relay squad comprised of Kristina Coiro, Monica Martinez, Larissa Melendez, and Elizabeth Eickelberg combined for a time of 12:16.80. The mark is the fastest of the season and breaks the school record. Due to the track being flat, their converted comes out to 12:08.99 which ranks them 43rd in the country.
The men's DMR featured William Marois, David Lewis, Ryan Healy, and James Panetta and chalked up a time of 10:12.71 for second place and their fastest time of the year. After the time conversion, they move up to 10:04.50 which places them 32nd nationally.
The Panthers will close out the indoor season this coming weekend at the ECAC/IC4A Championships held at Boston University.
