Adelphi University Performing Arts Center welcomes pianist Richard Goode

Internationally known performer comes to the Garden City campus

“He is one of the exemplary pianists of our day.” - Sunday Times (London)

New Yorkers have the rare opportunity of hearing one of todays’ most acclaimed and beloved pianists in the intimate setting of the 500-seat, Concert Hall in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AUPAC). Richard Goode will give a recital of works by Janáček, Schubert and Debussy on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. The AUPAC is located at 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.

He will perform the compositions on Adelphi University’s magnificent Fazioli concert grand piano, on the Westermann Stage. This is an extraordinary opportunity to see a world-class pianist prior to his performance at Carnegie Hall in May.

Grammy winner, Richard Goode, appears regularly with the major orchestras and conductors here and abroad and in all the leading concert venues and festivals.   He is recognized as one of the great interpreters of the classical and romantic literature and his recordings of the complete Beethoven Sonatas and Concertos have been recognized as among the very best.  In the 2014-2015 season,  the many sides of Mr. Goodes artistry will be featured in four concerts at Carnegie Hall – as soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, in a Stern Hall recital and in two chamber music concerts.

The headline of a rave review in a London newspaper summed up the experience of one of his recitals – “As Goode As It Gets.”

A native of New York studied at the Mannes College of Music and the Curtis Institute.  Among his numerous honors are the Young Concert Artists Award, First Prize in the Clara Haskil Competition, the Avery Fisher Prize, and a Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance. Mr. Goode has participated for 28 summers at the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Vermont (USA), serving as the Co-Artistic Director with Mitsuko Uchida for 15 years through 2013.

Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center is one of Long Island’s premier cultural arts venues for entertainment of all kinds. Its spring 2014 program features performances by Boston Brass, Trio Solisti, the Adelphi Symphony Orchestra and Tony-winner Tommy Tune.
