Boston, MA – Earlier this evening, the women's track and field team compete against some of the top teams in the northeast region at the Boston University Terrier Invitational. The contingent of eight runners competed in five different events and posted a half of a dozen personal bests and also notched the second NCAA qualifying mark of the indoor season.
Elizabeth Eickelberg highlighted the evening with her performance in the 3,000m run. The junior chopped of nearly 25 seconds off of her previous personal best and stopped the clock on the 10:04.15 mark which was good enough for 30th overall. The time is just under the NCAA provisional mark of 10:05.00 and is also second fastest in the Northeast-10 conference.
Kristina Coiro doubled up with two solid races. She was the lone Panther in the 1,000m run and clocked in at 3:07.30 for seventh in her heat and 16th overall. After, she led a slew of teammates through the mile with Adelphi's fastest time of the year in 5:10.69 which is the third fastest in the conference. On her heels was teammate Jacqueline Kaste who turned in a time of 5:14.97. Katie Hundertmark, Stephanie Filipazzo and Lindsay McLaughlin all followed suit in 5:39.51, 6:08.96 and 6:11.39 respectively.
Kaste double-backed and followed through with a time of 2:28.35 in the 800m run to place 58th overall. Hundertmark completed her double with a 2:40.42 showing while McLaughlin and Filipazzo recorded times of 2:48.50 and 2:50.29 respectively.
The duo of sophomores Larissa Melendez and Jennifer McNally each represented the Brown and Gold well in their respective events. Melendez lowered her personal best by nearly 18 seconds in the 3k, stopping the clock at 10:39.98, which ranks sixth in the NE-10. In the 5k, McNally set a 34 second personal best, nearly breaking the 19 minute barrier with a time of 19:01.31 to close out the meet.
The men will take to the track tomorrow on the second and final day of the Boston Terrier Invitational. Live statswill be posted here as the events conclude.
