Aguiar Named Daktronics NCAA All-American Honorable Mention

Garden City, N.Y. – Daktronics has announced their list of the 60 Division II men's soccer players who were named NCAA All-Americans. Senior midfielder Juan Aguiar was the lone student-athletes from Adelphi to be named to the Honorable Mention team as it was announced today. This is the first such All-American (non-academic) nod for the men's soccer program in 20 years. The last person to receive AA honors was head women's soccer coach Chris Armas when he was an NSCAA Honorable Mention back in 1993.

Being named a Daktronics NCAA All-American Honorable Mention is the latest award for the St. John's transfer. Prior, Aguiar was named a Daktronics First-Team All-Region honoree as well as a First-Team All-Northeast-10 selection. In just his first year donning the Panther uniform, he made an immediate impact and was tied for first on the team with 17 points on six goals and five assists. The midfielder started in 12 games while seeing action in 15 of them and had a breakout game in a 4-1 win over American International on September 18 when he collected five points on two goals and one assist.

Aguiar helped the Panthers to an 11-7 overall record, 9-4 mark in conference play. In the Panther's first year competing at the Division II level, they made the conference tournament and made it to the semifinal round before being ousted by nationally top-ranked Southern New Hampshire University, 1-0.
