
Garden City, N.Y. - Juan Aguiar was recently named Player of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference for the week of September 23 as announced earlier today. This is the first award for the senior midfielder. Additionally, teammates Diego Zuniga and Sergio Reyes earned spots on the Weekly Honor Roll.
Aguiar helped the Panthers to a 2-0 week with wins coming against American International College at home and against Stonehill on the road. In the 4-1 win over AIC, Aguiar notched two goals and was credited with one assist, affording his team their first NE-10 victory of the season. In a 2-0 shutout of Stonehill, he found the back of the net in the 30th minute for the game winner, bringing his weekly totals to three goals and one assist.
Zuniga also contributed to Adelphi's offense with the game winner in the 61st minute against AIC and then registered two assists at the Stonehill game. Reyes, the Panther's freshman keeper, logged all 180 mintues in net, made a total of five saves (four coming against the Skyhawks) and recorded his second collegiate shutout.
The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, September 24 when they head up to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on the Dolphins of Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference contest beginning at 3pm.
