All Clear at Adelphi After Chemical Odor Reported on Campus

Officials said science building was evacuated temporarily after report of chemical-like odor.

Officials gave the all clear Monday after a chemical-like odor was detected at Adelphi University.

School officials said they evacuated the university’s science building at about 9:05 a.m. after a chemical-like odor was reported.

The Garden City Fire Department, Nassau County Fire Marshal personnel, and hazmat crews investigated and found no hazardous threats inside the building, officials said.

As a precaution, fans were turned on inside the building before it was reopened at around 11 a.m.

No injuries were reported by school officials.
