Woman Pleads Not Guilty After Attemping To Steal Opioid Prescriptions From Assisted Living Facility: NCDA

Prosecutors said the investigation began after reports that residents' medications were being mishandled at the Hempstead facility.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Brooklyn woman pleaded not guilty after she was accused of attempting to steal opioid prescriptions from a Hempstead assisted living facility, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced on Friday.

Tianah Allen, also known as Tianah Eusebe, 34, was accused of submitting fraudulent prescriptions for oxycodone under residents' names, while working as a medication supervisor at Island Assisted Living in Hempstead, the DA's office said.

She was arraigned on May 15 before Judge William Bodkin on charges of two counts of third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance (a C felony); three counts of fourth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (a D felony); and second-degree forgery (a D felony), the DA's office said.

According to the DA's office, the woman pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in court on May 26 and faces up to 1 to 5 ½ years in prison if convicted, the DA's office said.

"When people place their parents or grandparents into long-term care, they should only have to worry about their loved ones' comfort and well-being," DA Donnelly said. "The defendant's alleged actions are a complete breach of that trust."

According to the investigation, the NCDA said the Brooklyn woman had been working at the assisted living facility since August 12, 2024, and the following year on approximately March 3, 2025, an internal investigation was initiatied by the facilitiy's adminstrator.

The DA's office said there were claims that some residents' prescriptions were "being mishandled" and upon the investigation, the Brooklyn woman was fired and the Hempstead Police Department was contacted by the administrator.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New York Enforcement Division’s Long Island SPEAR Team initiated an investigation with the NCDA, New York State Department of Health’s Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement (BNE), and the Nassau County Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Squad, the DA's office said.

This investigation determined that on February 25, 2025, the Brooklyn woman was accused of submitting two prescriptions, each for ninety 10mg oxycodone pills, to a pharmacy without authorization, the DA's office said.

One of the fraudulent prescriptions had been written for a resident who had a drug abuse history and would not have any recent narcotics prescribed, and the other prescription had been written for a resident who passed away before the medication was delivered to the facility, the DA's office said.

The DA's office said surveillance footage showed Tianah Allen, also known as Tianah Eusebe, looking through a delivery of residents' medications at the facility and placing oxycodone pills into a brown paper bag, which she then took out of the office and brought to her car. Another surveillance footage later on showed the Brooklyn woman sorting through the deliveries once more, and then placing oxycodone pills into an envelope, placing the envelope in her purse, and then carrying her purse out of the office to her car, the DA's office said.

Once more, on March 1, 2025, it was accused that surveillance video captured Tianah Allen, also known as Tianah Eusebe, forging a prescription for herself for ninety 10mg oxycodone pills and then submitting that prescription to the facility's pharmacy, the DA's office said.

Tianah Allen, also known as Tianah Eusebe, was arrested by NCDA detective investigators on May 14, 2026.

The case is being prosecuted by Pharmaceutical Diversion and Cybercrimes Unit Chief Heather Kalachman of the Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau under the supervision of Bureau Chief Patrick Brand, and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Investigations Division Rick Whelan, and Tianah Allen, also known as Tianah Eusebe is represented at arraignment by Christopher Cox of the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, the DA's office said.

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty, the DA's office said.
