The items reported took place between July 1 and July 7 and are as follows:
July 7:
Officers responded to a Garden City residence regarding a report of a small dog found. Upon arrival, officers located the dog's owner and transported the dog back to its owner without incident.
GCPD responded to South Ave. in the vicinity of Adelphi University for a report of a tree down blocking the roadway. Garden City Recreation was at the scene and removed the tree.
July 6:
Officers responded to a Garden City residence in response to a report of a suspicious person possibly looking at the residence's windows. The person involved was uncooperative with officers and refused to provide identification. GCPD officers remained in the area and observed the person leave the Village without incident.
GCPD responded to Adelphi University for a report of a suspicious person seen walking on campus. The person involved was asked to leave by Adelphi Public Safety, at which time they left campus without incident. GCPD officers canvassed the surrounding area with negative results.
July 5:
GCPD and GCFD responded to a Garden City business for an automatic fire alarm, deemed to have been set off by steam from hot water in a sink.
Officers responded to a Garden City residence for the report of damage to a driver's door. The reporting party believes the damage may have occurred while parked in Garden City Community Park the day prior. Detectives were notified.
July 4:
GCPD responded to a Garden City residence for the report of a dog that had gotten out of the home. Officers assisted in looking for the dog with negative results. Ultimately, the dog had been located without incident.
Officers responded to three reports of fireworks. Two of the reports produced negative results with no violations being observed. One party was warned and advised of the village code regarding fireworks, and all was in order.
July 3:
GCPD and GCFD responded to a Garden City residence for a carbon monoxide alarm. The gas was turned off, and the residents were advised to have their dryer serviced. There was one person at the scene who refused hospital transport.
GCPD and GCFD responded to the St Paul's Recreation Complex for a fire alarm, which was determined to be false due to extremely hot weather.
July 2:
GCPD responded to a report of a found dog. The dog was subsequently reunited with its owner.
The GCPD detective division arrested a 22-year-old Franklin Square man regarding a road rage incident that happened on June 30. During the incident, the man was accused of damaging both side-view mirrors on a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. He was charged with 3rd-degree criminal mischief and released on an appearance ticket.
July 1:
GCPD and GCFD responded to a residence for a false fire alarm, which was set off by construction.
GCPD and GCFD responded to a Franklin Ave. business for two residents briefly stuck in an elevator due to an electrical issue. Power was restored on its own, and the doors opened. No injuries were reported.
