UNIONDALE, NEW YORK—The Uniondale School District hosted its annual College Application Boot Camp for rising seniors, a four-day series of workshops that provided participants with valuable one-on-one experiences with 28 college admissions professionals from 21 colleges and universities. Hosted by the Uniondale High School College and Career Center, the application boot camp enabled scholars to receive personalized guidance from professionals while working diligently to strengthen their applications. Additionally, Uniondale High School alumni served as mentors and helped guide seniors during the workshops.
"This College Application Boot Camp enhanced our scholars' confidence and helped them cultivate more authentic and impactful applications," said Jessica Kane, Uniondale High School college and career counselor. "We express our deepest gratitude to our amazing college partners for donating their time, expertise, and encouragement to our scholars. This meaningful partnership continues to have a lasting positive impact on our students, schools, and community."
Throughout the workshops—which took place at the Uniondale Public Library—scholars brainstormed, drafted, and revised their college essays and assembled their résumés and key sections of the Common Application. They learned how to effectively showcase their activities and accomplishments and participated in mock admissions committee case studies, receiving a behind-the-scenes look at the evaluations and decisions made by admissions counselors.
The following colleges and universities took part in this meaningful program.
