HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Hempstead liquor store will be closed due to a fire and smoke damage, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.
The Hempstead Fire Department responded to a two-story mixed-use apartment on the second floor of a building, and three businesses on the first floor on Clinton Street after receiving a fire call at 10:48 p.m. on Wednesday, fire marshals said.
The fire was in the liquor store, Sons Liquor Enterprises, which firefighters contained and brought under control within 30 minutes, according to fire marshals.
No injuries were reported, and no other occupancies were affected, fire marshals said.
Mutual aid was provided by Uniondale, South Hempstead, West Hempstead, Garden City, Rockville Centre, and Freeport Fire Departments, with approximately 75 firefighters, fire marshals said.
According to fire officials, the NCFM's Office and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the fire.
