GARDEN CITY, NY — The Incorporated Village of Garden City released its crime report for the week ending Tuesday, Sep. 15.

The items reported took place between September 8 and September 15 and are as follows:
Sep. 15:
- GCPD and GCFD responded to a Garden City residence for the report of a chemical spill in a garage. GCFD assisted in cleaning the spill and deemed the residence safe for occupancy.
- A Garden City resident reports that packages were taken from the front porch of the home. Detectives are investigating.
Sep. 14:
- GCPD officers assisted Nassau County Probation officers, who conducted a traffic stop. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested a 63-year-old Valley Stream resident and issued tickets.
- GCPD officers responded to the Garden City Rail Road station for a report of a male running westbound on the Rail Road right-of-way next to the Rail Road tracks. Upon arrival, officers observed the male running in the right-of-way and contacted the LIRR to slow trains in the area. Officers made contact with the male, who was identified as an autistic 19-year-old who had been reported missing from the NCPD 3rd Precinct earlier in the day. Officers medically checked the teenager at the scene, and he was reunited with family members without incident.
Sep. 13:
- GCPD responded to Weyford Terr and Main Ave. for a hazardous condition. An officer replaced the water cap, which had been dislodged by heavy rain. GCPD notified the Water Department regarding this.
Sep. 12:
- GCPD responded to a Garden City residence for a report of a stolen acorn wreath from her front door and a stolen American flag. Officers took a report and forwarded it to the detective division.
- Officers responded to a large group of youths in the 11th St. area. An officer observed two youths, one on an e-bike and the other on a bicycle, enter a private residence. An East Meadow father responded, picked up his son, and retrieved the e-bike. A Garden City mother responded and picked up her son. The resident whose property the youths were on refused to sign a trespass complaint.
Sep. 11:
- GCPD traffic enforcement conducted a truck stop at the Stewart Manor Rail Road Station. Officers inspected eight commercial vehicles, placing four out of service. Officers placed two operators out of service, and a 53-year-old Brentwood man was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Forty-three tickets were issued.
- Officers assisted GCFD with their 9/11 memorial ceremony at the Hilton Ave. gazebo. GCPD personnel assisted with street closures and pedestrian crossings.
Sep. 10:
- As a result of an investigation by Garden City Detectives, a 45-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested after grand larceny and unlawful possession of a personal ID.
- GCPD and GCFD responded to Adelphi University Residence Hall B for an automatic fire alarm, deemed to have been set off by smoke from a candle.
Sep. 9:
- GCPD assisted Nassau County Probation officers with a traffic stop investigation. As a result, officers arrested a 42-year-old male Hempstead man after unlicensed operation, aggravated unlicensed operation, and an unregistered vehicle.
- Officers responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle striking the MTA overpass at Chestnut St. and St. James Street South. Officers issued the vehicle operator two VTL tickets.
Sep. 8:
- GCPD officers responded to a report of an auto accident involving a pedestrian who was struck and the vehicle involved leaving the scene without exchanging information. Detectives are investigating. A 68-year-old Rockville Centre man was arrested by GCPD Detectives and charged with leaving the scene of a crash.
- Officers responded to the Garden City Jewish Center for a report of a large group of youths on bicycles on the grounds. Officers canvassed the area with negative results.
- GCPD and GCFD responded to Adelphi University Post Hall for an automatic fire alarm, deemed to have been set off due to vaping.
- GCPD Detectives are investigating damage to a Flock camera on Clinton Rd.
