GARDEN CITY, NY — The Incorporated Village of Garden City released its crime report for the week ending Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The items reported took place between September 30 and October 6 and are as follows:
Oct. 6:
- The GCPD Detective Division arrested a 20-year-old woman for leaving the scene of a property damage auto crash that occurred on Sep. 28. She was released on a traffic ticket returnable to the Village of Garden City Justice Court.
- GCPD responded to the Garden City Hotel for a report of an auto accident that occurred the night before. Investigation at the scene resulted in the arrest of an 82-year-old Texas man for leaving the scene of a crash involving injury on the evening of Oct. 5 at Stewart Ave. and New Hyde Park Rd. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Nassau County First District Court.
Oct. 5:
- GCPD responded to Sackville Rd. at Newmarket Rd. regarding a woman who dropped her iPhone down a sewer grate. Using a Halligan tool, officers opened the drain and retrieved the phone.
- A GCPD traffic enforcement officer stopped a 2022 Ford van operated by a 34-year-old Westbury man for disobeying a no left turn sign on 11th St. Subsequent investigation revealed the operator had a revoked NYS license regarding a prior DWI offense. The subject was arrested and charged with two counts of driving with a suspended license, unlicensed, and disobeying the no left turn sign. All tickets were made returnable to the Village of Garden City Justice Court.
Oct. 4:
- GCPD responded to a Garden City residence for a report of a one-car property damage crash. Investigation at the scene resulted in a 19-year-old Huntington Station man being arrested for three counts of DWI. His vehicle was impounded.
- GCPD and GCFD responded to Adelphi University Linen Hall for an alarm, which GCFD determined was due to a hair dryer.
Oct. 3:
- GCPD and GCFD responded to South Ave. at Rockaway Ave. for an odor of natural gas, deemed to have been caused by ongoing construction.
Oct. 2:
- GCPD officers responded to Country Life Press railroad station for the report of a stolen electric scooter. Detectives are investigating.
Oct. 1:
- GCPD officers responded to a Terrace Ave. residence for the report of a found dog. The dog had no tags or identifying information, and a scan using the GCPD Pet Chip Scanner was negative. Officers transported the dog to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter without incident.
- GCPD officers responded to a 7th St. business for the report of a possible missing person. While canvassing the area, GCPD officers located the person in question without incident.
Sep. 30:
- GCPD and GCFD responded to Adelphi University Earle Hall for an automatic fire alarm, deemed to have been set off by burnt food.
