
Kristen McElroy has been found “well qualified” by the Nassau County Bar Association to be a district court judge in Nassau County.
McElroy, a prosecutor and litigator, will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot on three lines, including the Democratic, Independence and Working Families Line.
As a prosecutor in Nassau County she handled numerous misdemeanor and felony cases. Over the years as an assistant district attorney, McElroy handled hundreds of robberies, burglaries, narcotics cases, DWIs and assaults.

In her own practice, McElroy has focused on court-assigned cases involving disadvantaged individuals and families.
“I have spent years representing the people of Nassau County as a prosecutor. I recognize how important this is for the safety of our community. I now want to continue my service as a district court judge because I believe it is the highest calling to which a lawyer can aspire. I am committed to bringing my work ethic, values and sense of fairness to the job and working on behalf of our residents," she said.

In addition to being a practicing lawyer, McElroy is a mother of four children and a lifelong resident of Nassau County. After graduating Garden City High School, she studied at Loyola College and graduated St. John’s Law School. She is a partner in the law firm of McElroy and McElroy.
