Argument Escalated As Elderly Woman Stabbed Several Times: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man was arrested Monday evening after a verbal argument escalated with an 88-year-old Hempstead woman, police said.

Teron Ringgold, 32, grabbed a knife and stabbed the woman multiple times, authorities said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Ringgold, who was located by police on Greenwich Street, was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

He faces charges that include second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.

Ringgold is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
