Arrest Made In Connection To Pair Of 2022 Murders: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Police have made an arrest in connection to a pair of murders last year.

Twenty-year-old Gerson Hernandez, of Hempstead, is charged with second-degree gang assault for the September fatal shooting at a McDonald's restaurant in Hempstead. A 19-year-old victim died from his wounds, authorities said.

Hernandez was also charged on Monday with second-degree murder stemming from a July shooting at Uniondale Avenue Park. A 21-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, detectives said.

He is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday for both crimes.
