Bites Nearby: B.K. Sweeney's Uptown Grille

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Garden City Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here’s this week's choice:

B.K. SWEENEY'S UPTOWN GRILLE - In 2003, the owners transformed the old B.K. Sweeney’s Steakhouse into the hipper, sleeker B.K. Sweeney's Uptown Grille. This high-energy establishment enjoys a loyal following for Happy Hour and serves up American fare, including burgers, sandwiches, salads and pastas.

The dinner menu features Grille favorites like Sauerbraten, which is served with red cabbage, potato pancakes, apple sauce and Sweeney’s own ginger snap gravy for $14.95; or a Tender Pot Roast, topped with crispy fried onions and served with red cabbage, mashed potatoes and pan gravy ($14.95).

Uptown Grille has a lot of special nights. Monday night is Burger and Brew Night. Tuesday is All You Can Eat Steak Night. Wednesday offers a complete price fixed dinner and Thursday is Ladies Night.

Sunday brunch is a big deal at Uptown Grille. The brunch menu ranges from $12.95 to $17.95 and comes with unlimited Mimosas, Bloody Marys or Screwdrivers. Don’t want a drink? The friendly staff here also serves complimentary juices, coffee or tea and fresh crumb cake.

Some people just come for Happy Hour for a drink, appetizers and to watch a game.
