Bowling Jumps to Eighth in NTCA National Poll

Nashville, Tenn. - The Adelphi University bowling team ranked eighth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association December National Poll, jumping up from 15th in last month's poll and marking the second-highest position in program history.

This month's poll position is topped only by a seventh-place nod for the Panthers during the team's history 85-win season in 2009-10, a record good for third in the NCAA in winning percentage. The Panthers have posted a 34-11 record so far in 2012, highlighted by a season-opening first-place finish at the Kutztown University Baker Invitational in October.

“This poll reflects what NCAA bowling coaches have known, that the depth and parity in college bowling is the best it has ever been”, says NTCA President Becky Kregling.  “Youth programs and high schools are developing outstanding talent, more universities are expending resources and coaches are recruiting this talent like never before in our 10 year history.  This is a great sign for NCAA bowling and the future of our sport.”

The next NTCA poll will come in early February after competition resumes in January. The Panthers are slated to return to action at the three-day Kutztown University Invitational beginning on January 25.
