The Carey Seahawks came to Garden City's Warren King Field with one thing on their minds - get some revenge for having been knocked out of the playoffs by the Trojans for three years in a row, including last season.
Pumped up from the opening kickoff the Seahawks dominated the Trojans in every aspect of the game, especially dominating on the defensive side of the ball by frustrating GC quarterback Brett Stewart all game. The Trojans and Stewart could only muster 31 yards through the air. And although he was able to pick up 70 yards on the ground the Carey defense appeared to know when he was going to run the draw play or sweep by keying on him.
The teams came into the match-up with identical 3-0 records and were ranked 1-2 in the Conference II standings. Getting to the halfway point in the season with a 4-0 record puts Carey in position to unseat Garden City for the Nassau championship although they are very much aware that they will probably have to face the Trojans again.
Next week Garden City takes on Long Beach at home and Carey travels to Elmont.
