Celebrate Girl Scouts' 100th Anniversary
Open house at scouting's headquarters in Garden City.
On March 12, girls throughout the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting in the U.S., an organization that was built on strong values, friendships and traditions.
“We at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County are so thrilled to be celebrating Girl Scouts’ 100 years of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place,” said Donna Ceravolo, executive director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “We have a lot of fun and exciting events upcoming this month and through the rest of the 2012 year to recognize and honor this wonderful occasion. We hope you and your daughter will celebrate with us and become a member today!”
Join Girl Scouts of Nassau County as they mark the 100th anniversary by hosting a day long open house from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Girl Scouts of Nassau County Headquarters located at 110 Ring Road West in Garden City, for all Girl Scouts (girls, volunteers, parents and alumnae). Activities will include a sunrise ceremony, the Wish Upon a Star display and the opening of the timecapsule (closed in 2000), as well as 100th anniversary cake while they sing "Happy Birthday" to Girl Scouts. Specific event times for this free event are 7:11 a.m. - sunrise ceremony (outdoors, weather permitting); 9 a.m. - Service Center opens for open house; 7 p.m. - opening of time capsule.
