Christine Ebersole and Edward Hibbert engage the AUPAC audience

Two-time Tony-winner, Christine Ebersole was joined by Obie-winning actor Edward Hibbert Friday, May 10, 2013 on the Westermann Stage in the Concert Hall at Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center (AUPAC). The duo, along with pianist David Snyder, performed songs and dialogue collected from correspondence by Noël Coward. Coward was a 20th century playwright, actor and composer who is most noted for his plays Private Lives and Blithe Spirit.

Love Noël: The Letters and Songs of Noël Coward is an intimately set show, two chairs, music stands and piano, where Ms. Ebersole portrayed a variety of characters in Coward’s (as played by Mr. Hibbert’s) life. She navigates through conversation altering her voice and singing style channeling the likes of Coward’s mom, Violet and friends and co-stars Gertrude Lawrence, Marlene Dietrich and Elaine Stritch, to name a few. Songs such as "I'll See You Again" and “Someday I’ll Find You” were part of the show.

After performing, the stars mingled with the audience members and fans gave out autographs and shared stories of past performances.

Earlier in the day, the guest artists held a master class for students and members of the community. Four of Adelphi University performing arts students came prepared with songs and scenes to perform for Ms. Ebersole and Mr. Hibbert. They received feedback and had the opportunity to re-do their piece taking that advice into account.

Celebrating its fifth year, Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center is Long Island’s premier cultural arts venue for entertainment of all kinds. This coming fall the 2013-2014 season will open with a special concert featuring the original Broadway cast members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp performing songs from the Tony-award winning musical, Rent, by Adelphi University alum Jonathan Larson ‘82. The full season lineup for AUPAC will be announced later in the summer.   Check out aupac.adelphi.edu for more events coming to the venue; information is also available by calling (516) 877-4000 or boxoffice@adelphi.edu.
