CONVOY OF HOPE

CONVOY OF HOPE June 4, 2013 Local businesses, churches, and social service agencies unite to help families at upcoming Convoy of Hope outreach For Immediate Release: More than 75,000 pounds of free groceries will be distributed to thousands of area residents at Hempstead’s second annual Convoy of Hope outreach. The outreach will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 8th 2013, beginning at 10 a.m. at Mitchel Park, 1 Charles Lindbergh Blvd Uniondale, NY 11553 No identification is required. Groceries will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. Along with groceries, guests will receive free health screenings, haircuts, and resume writing assistance. There will be games, live entertainment and activities for children along with an inflatable kid’s zone. We also will be serving a free lunch for all who attend. Approximately 2000 volunteers from over 70 local churches, local officials such as County Executive Edward Mangano, Mayor Wayne J. Hall Jr., businesses, and community organizations are uniting to conduct the event. “This is an exciting opportunity for Long Island residents to show compassion for our neighbors in a real and tangible way,” says Tori Markou, coordinator for Long Island Convoy of Hope. We have received donations from Arizona Beverage, Carmine Ferraro Building Corp, Astoria Federal Savings, Bethlehem Assembly of God in Valley Stream, Hempstead Assembly of God, Premiere Care, Pathmark,Secure Door & Hardware Inc., KLOVE, King Kullen, Freedom Chapel, Jesse Gonsowski, Shelter Rock Church and many others. In addition to the monetary donations stated above, Andrea Mansfield, Michelle Gamache and Christine Delvalle are the East Rockaway PTA Presidenst that made the donation of hundreds of books on behalf of the East Rockaway PTA. Ms. Charmine Sorbara, Lisa DeMonte and Kerri Benvenuto on behalf of the Lynbrook PTA printed flyers, collected books, crayons and coloring books to donate to this event.
