Cradle Of Aviation Reduced Energy With Hundreds Of New LED Fixtures
The Garden City museum earned $115,000 in rebates from PSEG Long Island.

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Cradle of Aviation Museum is getting praise from PSEG Long Island for its commitment to reducing electricity.
The museum earned more than $115,000 in energy-efficient rebates from PSEG Long Island by installing more than 800 LED lighting fixtures and LED lightbulbs.
Jennifer Baxmeyer, executive director, Cradle of Aviation Museum said: "The new lighting not only enhances the visual clarity of our exhibits, it also significantly improves our preservation of artifacts and reduces our carbon footprint."

In all, the museum reduced its energy usage by 400,000 kilowatt hours per year. That translates to approximately $70,000 per year in savings.
"By making this significant upgrade, we were able to provide the museum with a significant rebate, and the exhibits look great with the new lighting," Michael Voltz, director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for PSEG Long Island, said.
