Drunk, High Driver Caused Crash: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Oct. 27.
Oct. 21
- A 24-year-old woman was arrested for the theft of numerous facial products from CVS. She was charged with petty larceny.

- Officers responded to Washington Avenue and 11th Street where a southbound vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man apparently swerved into the northbound lane, striking another vehicle. Upon investigation, the driver of the southbound vehicle, who was not injured, was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs, DWI, four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance (crack/cocaine, cocaine, acid, Adderall), possession of marijuana and uninsured operation. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
- A 34-year-old man was arrested for driving on Meadow Street with 10 license suspensions and defective brake lights.
- Detectives are investigating a report of missing mail that was due to be delivered to a Garden City residence.
Oct. 23
- A Flushing company was charged with the operation of an overlength vehicle on New Hyde Park Road as well as suspended registration, unsecured load of steel rods, unsecured load of large rocks and defective brakes.
- A 41-year-old man was arrested for driving on Rockaway Avenue with a forged New Jersey temporary registration, excessive speed in a school zone, criminal possession of a controlled substance (Adderall and Xanax), possession of marijuana and uninsured operation.
- Graffiti was discovered on the Meadow Street underpass.

- Officers responded to a home for a report of a loud party and discovered numerous minors with alcohol present. The 52-year-old homeowner was charged with violating the village’s Social Host Law.
- As a result of their participation in the DEA National Drug Take Back Day initiative, the Garden City Police Department collected 13 large boxes of expired, unwanted and unused medications.
- Upon investigation of a vehicle that fled the scene after driving on two Brixton Road lawns and striking and damaging a fence, Garden City detectives arrested a 30-year-old man for leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief.
Oct. 25
- Upon investigation of a vehicle driving erratically on Main Street, officers arrested the driver, a 37-year-old man, for aggravated DWI, driving on the wrong side of the road, and violation of driver license restrictions.
- The department received surveillance footage of two teens stealing signs from a Stratford Avenue lawn.
Oct. 26
- Five trees were reported stolen from the lawn of a Poplar Street residence.
- A 49-year-old man was arrested for driving on Franklin Avenue with a revoked license for a prior DWI, six driver license suspensions and tinted windows.
- Upon investigation, a 34-year-old man was arrested on Old Country Road for an active New York City assault warrant.
- Property was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Middleton Road driveway.
- A driver was charged with driving on Clinton Road with a suspended license and excessive speed. Another driver was charged with driving on Rockaway Avenue with a suspended license and excessive speed in a school zone.
