The County Seat Kiwanis is set to host its third annual Bicycle Safety Day. Bicycle riders of all ages are invited to participate in this free event. Participants are encouraged to bring their bicycles, as a skills course will be set up for all riders. In addition, officials from Mineola Bicycle will be on hand to inspect participants’ bicycles and helmets.
Participants will be treated to free popcorn, water and juice as well as music by DJ Tim Aldrich. Facepainting and tattoos will be available for youngsters. The Mineola Volunteer Fire Department will be on hand to give fire truck tours, as well as blood pressure and heart rate screenings. 20/20 Eye Care will provide complimentary eye screenings, and the Long Island Head Injury Association will also be participating.
Participants will learn how to fix a flat, and bike safety presentations will be given at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring gently used, working bikes to donate to Mercy Haven. All participants are entitled to enter a free raffle for a new bicycle.
