Frank Kiernan MVP Award Winner - Cory Fallon
Coach Rich Smith presented the baseball MVP award to Cory Fallon for his outstanding season.
At the annual Garden City High School GAA/BAA awards ceremony senior baseball player Cory Fallon was presented with the Frank Kiernan Most Valuable Player Award.
Cory had an outstanding season with a batting average of .355. Fallon also led the team in hits with 27, runs batted in with 30 and also led the team in home runs with seven. In a game against Great Neck North Fallon set a school record by hitting three home runs in a game.
In his speech Coach Rich Smith said, "Our MVP can best be described as a dominant, work horse type of baseball player. The type of player who could beat you in so many ways. His offensive contributions, in a large way, helped his team win 15 games this season."
As a pitcher he had a 4-3 record with a 2.38 ERA. He averaged a strikeout for each inning pitched.
He culminated his two-year varsity career by being selected to the All Conference team. Fallon will take his baseball talents to Susquehanna University in the fall.
