Garden City Community Club Hosts a Presentation on Southern India

Rakesh Gupta, associate professor at Adelphi University’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, will speak about southern India in his presentation, “Land of Temples, Tech and Medical Tourism,” at the Garden City Community Meeting at 1:30 p.m. on November 4, 2015. Gupta will show photographs and share travel experiences from his frequent trips to India. Originally from northern India, Gupta has traveled to the country for business and for pleasure. For the past several years, he has returned to India twice a year and has visited 17 of its 29 states via plane, train, elephant and camel.

Currently excelling in the field of technology, southern India, in Gupta’s words, has become a “hub for international software, information technology and computer firms.” Its universities are responsible for producing the world’s largest number of engineers. Diagnostic and surgical interventions offered at a fraction of the cost of those in the United States also make it a magnet for travelers seeking medical services—so-called medical tourists.

The Garden City Community meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Garden City Casino at 51 Cathedral Avenue. There is a $5 entrance fee for guests, and coffee and tea will be served by the Community Club following the program.
