Garden City Girls Lacrosse Defeats South Side
Now 2-0 in Conference B1, Garden City beats South Side at their home field, 10-7.
The Garden City varsity girls lacrosse team defeated South Side 10-7 at their home field Tuesday afternoon. They now stand at 2-0 in Conference B1, giving South Side (2-1) their first loss of the season.
The first half of the game started out slow for Garden City. South Side was playing tougher defense and The Lady Trojans couldn't get control of the game as quickly as they did last week against Plainedge. Going into halftime 5-3, fortunately Garden City was only down by two goals.
South Side's Jackie Cifarelli had three goals in the first half, the other two were scored by Micheala Lynch and Grace Healey. Garden City's three goals were made by Jenna Fuchs, Mikaela Rix and Catherine Dickinson.

Garden City returned to the field strong, scoring four goals in the first five minutes of the second half, three of which were by Rix. Now 7-5, South Side had to step up their game if they wanted to win this one. Lynch and Cifarelli scored two more goals for South Side and at the 13:00 mark, the game was tied 7-7.
Both teams played pretty evenly for the next few minutes. Their defenses were both strong, not letting either team in easily. However, the tie score didn't last too long, as Garden City star player Caroline Tarzian scored a goal at 6:78. In the final three minutes of the game, Tarzian scored another goal and Barbara Sullivan scored her first goal of the game. They held back South Side in the minutes remaining, ending the game at 10-7.
