Garden City Insurance Executive Honored By Long Island Press
James C. Metzger of The Whitmore Group named Philanthropist of the Year.

James C. Metzger, the CEO and Chairman of The Whitmore Group of Garden City, was honored as "Philanthropist of the Year" by the Long Island Press and its Schneps Community News Group last evening. The Whitmore Group is a leading independent insurance brokerage headquartered in Garden City.
Along with Metzger, dozens of men who are successful in business, with communities and with the cultural, political, civic and religious fabric of Long Island were honored at the prestigious Kings of Long Island Awards and Networking event at Leonard's Palazzo in Great Neck. The evening's host was Victoria Schneps-Yunis, publisher of the Long Island Press.
Metzger was honored for his ongoing support of his high school (Half Hollow Hills East) and college (Hofstra University) alma maters, and the many student-athletes at these and other schools on Long Island and in New York City. He often credits his success in business and life with lessons that he first learned on the sports field at these two schools.
